Prompt sets, and Settings that are easier to find your way around
Better answers from the guides
- Asking how to do something now finds the right part of the guides more often, even when you don’t use the guides’ own words. For example, asking how to restore something you archived finds Bring back an archived item, and asking how many prompts the Free plan allows finds the Plans and limits guide.
- This works the same in the search box on Help, when you ask Chat about PromptMason, and when your AI agent looks something up in the guides.
- Your AI agent now links to the part of the guide its answer comes from. See Look things up in the guides.
Your AI agent can get a Skill as a zip file
- Your AI agent can now get a Skill as a zip file, the same file Download Skill saves. It gets the file, its name and a checksum, so it can check that nothing changed on the way. If you haven’t changed the Skill, it gets the very same file every time.
- This works in Read-only mode too, because it only reads. See Get a Skill as a zip file.
Import a Skill from a zip file
- Click Prompts, then New, then Import a Skill… to bring in a Skill you already have as a
.zipfile. It works with a Skill you downloaded from PromptMason, and with one you exported from Claude or another AI app. - The Skill is added to your list with its fields and its files. If PromptMason had to change something, or a file couldn’t come in (a picture, for example), a window tells you. See Import a Skill.
Send diagnostics to support
- When something isn’t working, click Help, then Get help from support. Save diagnostics file saves a file that tells support which version you have, how PromptMason is set up and the recent errors it noted. Email support asks which email you use (Gmail, Outlook.com, Yahoo Mail or the email app on this computer), opens a message to support there, and shows the file in its folder so you can drag it in.
- The file records what PromptMason did, such as starting, syncing, checking for updates and AI requests, with counts and times, so support can follow what happened.
- The file never holds the names or text of your prompts, blocks, variables or chats, or your keys and passwords. Click See what’s included to read every word of it first.
- The same buttons are in Settings → General, and on the card PromptMason shows if your library can’t load. See Send diagnostics to support.
Labels for the values in a list
- A variable that offers a list of values can now give each value a label, such as Prod for
https://app.example.com. Type it in the Label box beside the value on the Variables screen. - When you fill in your values, in the app and in the Chrome extension, the list shows each label with its value, and typing finds either one. Only the value is copied.
- Your AI agent sees the labels too, so it can offer you the values by name. It fills in the value, never the label. See Offer a list of choices.
Prompt sets
- A prompt set puts your prompts in order, one step after another. Click Prompts, then New, then Prompt set, drag prompts from the list on the left onto the canvas, put them in order and click Save prompt set.
- Copy to Clipboard copies every step’s text, one after another. A value asked each time is asked once and fills every step that uses it. The Chrome extension shows and copies a set the same way.
- Your AI agent can run a set: it reads the steps with get_prompt_set, then runs each prompt in turn and carries each answer into the next. It can also make and change sets. A set counts as one prompt. See Prompt sets.
- Each step has Include Step Number and Include Name boxes, like a block’s Include Name and Include Type. Tick one to put it in that step’s heading. How new steps start is set in Settings, then Blocks & prompts, the same way as for blocks. See Choose each step’s heading.
- A prompt that a set uses shows Used by with the sets, so you can see where it runs. A long list of steps scrolls instead of filling the pane.
Settings that are easier to find your way around
- AI & connected apps now has three tabs: AI providers, AI instructions and Connected apps. Chat has Chats and Web tabs.
- Each AI provider is one short row. Click Set up or Edit to open it. Your own AI server is now with the other providers.
- A small (i) next to a name, such as Connected apps or Recovery kit, says what it’s for. Point to it or click it.
- Search shows which tab a setting is on, and picking a result opens it there. See Settings.
A formatting bar for documents
- The Markdown document editor has a formatting bar: Bold, Italic, Heading, lists, Quote, Code and Link. Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I and Ctrl+K work too, and Ctrl+Z takes back what a button did. A Skill’s instructions have the same bar. See Format with the toolbar.
Kind and Category
- What an item is, such as a Static Prompt, a Dynamic Skill, a Prompt set or a Document, is its Kind. A prompt’s Type is now its Category: a label you choose, such as User Prompt, System Prompt or one of your own, or No category. Changing the Category never changes what the item is. Blocks keep their Type.
- On the Build screen, Build a: Prompt | Skill | Prompt set picks what you’re making. To turn a prompt into a Skill, right-click it and click Make it a Skill. Make it a prompt turns it back, and its text is kept.
- Markdown documents now show as Document in lists, filters and on Home, and a chat can follow any document. Your own categories are in Settings, then Blocks & prompts, under Prompt categories. See Block types and prompt categories.
Quick Launch your way
- Click the gear on Quick Launch on Home to open Customize. Choose how many columns and rows it uses, tick the tiles you want and put them in order.
- There are five new tiles: New Document, New Prompt Set, New Folder, New Variable and New Skill. Your Home looks the same until you change it. See Customize Quick Launch.
Smaller improvements
- AI assist for documents. AI assist now treats a Markdown document as plain writing. It no longer adds a name, a description or other Skill fields at the top. If you changed the instructions for Markdown documents in Settings, yours are kept, and Use the new default beside them switches to the new ones.
What you need to do
- Before you update: nothing. Your blocks, prompts, settings and license are kept.
- After you update: if you use an AI agent with PromptMason, this update gives it new tools, for getting a Skill as a zip file and for reading, making and changing prompt sets, and lets it add or change the labels on a list’s values. It sees the labels straight away. To get the new tools and set labels in Claude Desktop, install the PromptMason extension again; restarting Claude is not enough. Restart Cursor or Claude Code. If an AI agent is still using the old tools, the bell in PromptMason tells you and takes you to the fix. See Connect an AI agent.
Good to know
- A library shared between computers: a computer that hasn’t updated yet shows the list’s values without their labels. If someone changes the list there, each value they keep keeps its label. Nothing else is lost.
- Categories on a computer that hasn’t updated: it shows the Category as the Type, as before. If someone changes the Type there, that becomes the Category on your other computers.
- Prompt sets on a computer that hasn’t updated: it shows a set as an empty prompt until it updates. Nothing is lost: the set and its steps are kept on your other computers, and come back when that computer updates.
