# Get started

*Install PromptMason, set it up, and make and copy your first prompt.*

Online version: https://promptmason.ai/docs/get-started

This section is for anyone who has just downloaded PromptMason. It covers installing the app, choosing how much of it to show, and making your first prompt from a reusable block.

A few ideas come up everywhere in the guides:

- **Block:** a reusable piece of prompt text, such as "Act as a careful editor".
- **Prompt:** the text you paste into an AI tool. A dynamic prompt is built from blocks and changes when they change. A static prompt is fixed text.
- **Library:** where your blocks and prompts are kept, on your PC.
- **Features:** optional parts of the app, such as Tags or Chat, that you can show or hide. Hiding a feature doesn't delete anything.

Start with [Your first prompt](https://promptmason.ai/docs/getting-started). It takes you from the installer to a copied prompt, with a link to more detail at each step. For what Windows may ask when you install, and how to update or remove the app, see [Install, update and remove](https://promptmason.ai/docs/installation). If the window looks busy, [A tour of PromptMason](https://promptmason.ai/docs/app-tour) explains what each screen is for, and you can hide the parts you don't use (see [Show or hide features](https://promptmason.ai/docs/features)).
